Who publishes this

Quiet Earth is an independently operated publication. It is produced and maintained by its owner, who is responsible for every entry, caption and policy page on this site. There is no parent network, syndication partner or content farm behind it.

What we publish

Each field note contains one visual study and a short factual caption of roughly forty to eighty words. Subjects are drawn from geology, botany, marine life, weather and light. We do not publish news, medical or financial advice, political commentary, or content about tragedy, conflict or crime.

Editorial standards

• Original media only. Every image and clip is produced for this publication. We do not repost, re-upload, compile or edit third-party media.
• Written by a person. Captions are written and fact-checked by the editor before publication.
• Accuracy over reach. If a claim can't be stated plainly and correctly, it doesn't run. Corrections are made in place and noted.
• No engagement bait. No "comment to see part two", no misleading thumbnails, no artificially fragmented posts.
• Safe for all audiences. Nothing graphic, sensational or restricted.

How it is funded

Quiet Earth may earn revenue from advertising and platform monetization programmes. Any paid placement or sponsored entry will be labelled as such at the top of the entry. Sponsorship never determines what we publish or how a subject is described.
