Everything here is made for here

This page explains where Quiet Earth media comes from, how it is labelled, and what to do if you believe something was published in error.

Originality

All visual media on Quiet Earth is produced for this publication. We do not repost, mirror, compile, reaction-edit or lightly modify media created by other people or publications. We do not upload content sourced from stock libraries, other social accounts, or media we do not hold the rights to.

Production methods and labelling

Entries are produced using a combination of photographic capture and computer-generated imagery. Where an entry is computer-generated or substantially digitally composed, it is published as an illustrative study rather than as documentary evidence of a specific place, date or event, and captions are written accordingly. We never present a synthesised image as a photograph of a real, identifiable news event, person or place.

Captions describe general, verifiable natural phenomena. They do not claim that a particular frame documents a particular location at a particular moment unless that is true.

Accuracy and corrections

Every caption is checked against at least one reputable source before publication. If we get something wrong, we correct the entry in place and add a short correction note. To flag an error, use the contact page.

What we will not publish

  • Graphic, violent, sexual, shocking or otherwise adult material
  • Misinformation, conspiracy content, or unverified health and medical claims
  • Content about tragedies, conflict, crime or human suffering
  • Hateful, harassing or demeaning content toward any person or group
  • Regulated goods, gambling, or get-rich-quick material
  • Engagement bait, misleading previews, or artificially fragmented posts

Intellectual property

Quiet Earth media is the property of the publication and may not be reproduced, resold or redistributed without written permission. If you believe material published here infringes your rights, contact us with a description of the work, the URL of the entry, and proof of your ownership. Verified claims are removed promptly while we investigate.

Community standards

Comments and messages are moderated. Spam, harassment, hate speech, impersonation and commercial solicitation are removed, and repeat offenders are blocked.
